The highest price paid for a two-year-old bull in this winter sale season has been $43,000 for Sudeley Angus T32, bought by Gisborne stud Kaharau Angus.
Andrew and Anna Laing at Sudeley Angus, Leeston, Mid Canterbury, had a full clearance of 55 bulls on offer and averaged $11,100, close to the highest average so far this sales season.
As well as the Kaharau purchase, Red Oak Angus, Waipara, paid $32,000 for Lot 30 and Stern Angus, Geraldine, paid $12,500 for Lot 9.
In week five of the sale season some of the biggest offerings come forward from leading Angus studs in Canterbury and the East Coast and Sudeley’s top price may be overtaken.
Stern will sell more than 100 bulls on Thursday, June 20, and Kaharau some 60 lots on Monday, June 24.
